Book Exchange

If you’re looking for any ideas on how to participate with ELLA, look no further than your own imagination.
After arriving back from China, I felt the need for a sense of community. After living in Asia, I became accustomed to knowing my neighbors, talking to other people in the community, and sharing the common bonds of community living. Being back in the USA, however, I quickly realized that people from within my own community did not have the same ties of friendship as those communities I had lived in overseas. Instead of being sad about it, I decided to take matters into my own hands. This is how the book exchange came alive!
The book exchange is a simple concept: exchange books! I appreciate my grandparents for supporting my efforts to get people out front sitting by the books. My mother, cousin Brian, and friend Jackie are not to be forgotten. Thank you to all of my neighbors who brought books and helped make the exchange possible! Without the effort of any of you, this would have never been accomplished!
So if you’re feeling inspired, take some used books, make a sign that says ‘book exchange,’ and sit outside for a couple of hours and see what happens! You’ll be surprised at how your life can change as a result of learning!
